Moving to an Apartment in Clarksville?
You Need the Perfect Checklist!
By Janie Curtis
Whether you're moving to one of Clarksville's studio apartments or one of the two-bedroom apartments around Clarksville, you have to be organized! If you want to get into your new apartment smoothly and easily, follow the tips in this moving checklist:
- Take another look at your Clarksville apartment
While you may have fallen in love with the size of your new apartment, or the quaint Clarksville neighborhood it's located in, you have to look at it a little differently before you move in. Specifically, you need to make sure that everything is in working order -- like the air conditioner, the locks, the sinks, the toilets, and all of your kitchen appliances. If there's an issue with anything, let your landlord know. That way, it can get taken care of before you move all your stuff in, and you won't be on the hook for damage you didn't cause.
- Have money set aside for utility deposits
If you have good credit, it's unlikely that the Clarksville Department of Electricity (or the Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation, depending on which part of the area you live in) will charge you a security deposit. However, the last thing you need is to get caught off-guard! So, set some money aside. If you don't need to pay a deposit, you can always stick it in your savings account (or use it to decorate your new Clarksville apartment!).
- Get everything changed/forwarded
It can take several days for the Post Office to start forwarding your mail, so change your address with them sooner rather than later. The last thing you need is mail showing up at your old apartment after you leave for Clarksville!
While you're at it, be sure to change the address on your driver's license, on your bank account, on your car insurance policy (and use this as an opportunity to talk to your insurance agent about getting renter's insurance for your new Clarksville apartment!), and on anything else that needs to be changed.
- Pack carefully
No matter how affordable the one bedroom rentals near Clarksville may be, you probably don't have enough money to buy all new stuff, so be sure to pack up your belongings carefully! The last thing you need is to arrive in Clarksville with nothing but box after box of broken stuff.
If you're paying movers to get your stuff to your new Clarksville apartment, ask them if they have professional packing supplies (like sturdy boxes and special packing paper). Many big moving companies will actually give this stuff to you if you've already agreed to do business with them!
- Enjoy your Apartment in Clarksville
Clarksville is a great place to live. Once you get here, be sure to enjoy everything that it has to offer!
